PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-recording apparatus which can detect laser deterioration of a level not leading to a horizontal synchronous signal detection error in an inexpensive circuit constitution. SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided with a laser-driving part 17 for driving a laser diode 16 thereby writing image data for every one line, a synchronous detecting part 18 arranged on a scanning line of a laser, a horizontal scanning counter 12 for controlling emission of the laser in each state in a horizontal scanning direction by a value set to a RAM 3 with using a synchronous detection signal generated by the synchronous detecting part 18 as a trigger, a synchronous detection counter 19 for measuring a time period after the synchronous detection signal rises before a next synchronous detection signal falls, and a CPU 1 for judging that the laser is deteriorated when a count value measured by the synchronous detection counter 19 is larger than the value preliminarily set to the RAM 3 and warning from an operation display part 4.
