PURPOSE: A traffic signal control system is provided to decrease a traffic congestion by reducing a fuel waste and a traffic signal standby time. CONSTITUTION: The system lengthens a traffic signal in a direction of heavy traffic volume and to the contrary by shortening a traffic signal of a vehicle using a PC(Personal Computer) installed in a remote place by installing a CCTV in a traffic crossroad. A signal is processed through seven cases, and thus the PC analyzes and compares an optimum signal per each case. The PC can know that a vehicle is waiting for a traffic signal by receiving the number of vehicles shown in a standby vehicle area, and compares the state with that of another section. The traffic signal input of the crossroad is controlled by a microprocessor(8051), and a RS-232 cable is used for data communication between the PC and the microprocessor.
