PURPOSE: A moisturizing agent for cosmetics comprising a rooibos tea extract and silicate is provided, which has high safety to human bodies, high moisture retention and moreover emulsification action by removing active oxygen and prevents the keratinization of the skin. CONSTITUTION: This moisturizing agent is obtained by packing leaves or branches of Rooibos tea (botanical name: Aspalathus linearis) of a leguminous plant cultured in only specific area of south Africa and silicate in nonwoven fabric and leaching. The agent is excellent in application feeling such that it can be used for facial cleaning or bathing and may be used in the treatment of skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis.
