PURPOSE:To simultaneously amplify wavelength multiplex light to a specified level regardless of whether a transmission signal is entrained therein or not at respective optical nodes of the optical communication system. CONSTITUTION:Modulation light of plural wavelengths is transmitted at all times from a reference station to a transmission path. The modulation light is amplified to the specified level and the specified level light is modulated in accordance with the transmission signal in the case of execution of signal transmission by using one beam of the above-mentioned modulation light at the respective optical nodes. The modulation light based on this transmission signal and the modulation light which is not used for signal transmission at the optical nodes are thereafter simultaneously amplified and are delivered again to the transmission path. The levels of the modulation light which is not used for the signal transmission and the modulation light based on the transmission signal are the same. |
