PURPOSE: A packet buffer control apparatus in a packet switch using a common bus is provided to control packet transmission according to the storage state of real data of the packet buffer. CONSTITUTION: A packet counter(310) counts the number of packet remained to the present packet buffer(320). The packet buffer(320) stores temporarily the packet data to be transmitted. A packet receiving unit(331) receives the packet data and transmits the data to the packet buffer(320). A packet transmission unit(332) outputs the packet data presenting the packet buffer(320). A reception packet sensing unit(312) senses the number of packet unit from the packet data inputted to the packet reception unit(331). A transmission packet sensing unit(313) senses the number of packet unit from the packet data outputted from the packet transmission unit(332). The packet buffer(320) outputs the notifying signal, that is a half-full signal, when the data storage volume is above half of its capacity. |
