PURPOSE: A method for controlling a top dead center task is provided to simplify the structure by performing a crank angle sensor task and the top dead center task using a crank angle sensor signal. CONSTITUTION: A crank angle sensor signal is inputted(S21). A period of the crank angle sensor signal is calculated(S22). A cylinder is determined(S23). Then, the crank angle count is set to zero(S24). A period of the top dead center is calculated(S25). If the cylinder is not determined, the value of the crank angle count is increased by 1(S26). Then, the value of the crank angle count is compared with the value of the top dead center task(S27). If the value of the crank angle count is identical to the value of the top dead center task, the top dead center task is carried out(S28).
