<p>Apparatus for opening and closing a levelling port on the vertical discharge door of each coke oven in a battery, in order to admit an arm for levelling a new charge, of coal, comprises (a) a carriage mounted on the coke discharge machine which runs along the front of the oven, able to move on rails perpendicular to the direction of the machine movement pref as the result of action by a hydraulic piston and cylinder. (b) A pair of hydraulic actuators one of which opens or closes the levelling port closure member, while the other operates a quadrilateral linkage for locking and unlocking the closure member to prevent or permit this being opened.</p> |
