Alkyl -silanes with reduced reaction times/charge and prolonged catalyst activity - In the known process of preparing cpds contg. C-Si bonds by reacting, cpds contg Si-H bonds with unsatd. hydrocarbons or cpds in addition to the unsatd. hydrocarbons contg. organic gps. in the presence of a support material contg Pt or Pd as catalyst, it has now been found that the reaction time/charge is substantially shortened and the catalyst activity maintained almost constant over a substantially prolonged period and throughout a large series of charges, by arranging the catalyst above the mixture of the reactants and between this mixture and a cooling means. The condensate from the cooling means being trickled over the catalyst so as to impregnate it as uniformly as possible.
