The autonomous battery changing mechanism operates with vehicles having batteries stored in a linear channel running from front to back of the vehicle. Auxiliary batteries in the vehicle allow the vehicle move forward during battery change-over, so spent batteries are pushed out the end of the channel by the charged batteries entering the channel at the front of the vehicle.
