The digital communications system equaliser for several receivers forms transverse filters (9) for each reception channel. The convergent system has a forward recursive filter (8) on each reception channel feeding into a summer (10). There is a means of evaluating performance level, allowing a switch from normal operating mode to tracking mode or the inverse.
