The process for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons from a hydrocarbon cut includes a supplementary stage consisting of the recycling of part of the gaseous effluent containing hydrogen from the catalyst reduction stage. The process comprises: (1) treatment of thee cut in the presence of H2 and effecting a dehydrogenation of the naphthenes; (2) separation of the gaseous effluent containing H2 to obtain a recycling gas, liquid and catalyst; (3) regeneration of the catalyst; and (4) reduction of the catalyst and re-introduction to the treatment stage. The reduction stage is carried out in the presence of introduced recycling gas in an amount such that the quantity of H2 is between 1-10 kg/kg of catalyst; the effluent from the reduction is separated from the catalyst bed. An Independent claim is also included for the installation for effecting the process.
