A conveyer belt bearing a load of bulk solids reaches the reversing point to pass around a drum and release its load, a residue of which tends to remain attached to the conveyer surface as a result of surface irregularities. The residue is detached from the descending belt by a transverse scraper at the 3 o'clock position and supported by two pendulum side arms (13). The side arms pivot (9) under the influence of a balancing weight (11).
