The invention concerns an electronic label (10), comprising a non volatile display (16) maintaining its display state even when not electrically powered and a communication interface (24) for transmitting data to the display, the whole set being integral with a medium (12). The invention is useful for identifying the content of all types of documents, in particular documents capable of being recorded by electronic means.
