A device and method for reducing noise and/or vibration in an image forming apparatus. In a preferred form, an insert (50) is disposed inside of a photosensitive drum (60). The insert (50) is a hollow tubular member (59) including an elastic member having, in a relaxed state, an outer diameter (52) larger than an inner diameter (62) of the inner surface of the drum (60). The elastic member is configured such that when elongated in a longitudinal direction (58), the outer diameter (52) of the elastic member is elastically reduced to a diameter equal to or less than the inner diameter (62) of the drum (60), and after insertion, the overall diameter of the insert (50) is increased such that the outer surface of the insert (50) contacts the inner surface of the drum (60). As such, the insert (50) can be anchored to the drum (60) without using adhesive and easily removed for recycling purposes. A tool (100) for installing the insert (50) is also provided.
