The pan frame (12) is press-formed from a rigid panel material e.g. steel. It has securing areas (14) for locking to the floor of a vehicle. The pan frame has a flat lower wall (12A) with a projecting stiffening profile, which surrounds a flat area and is formed during the press forming process. The stiffening profile is connected to the securing areas. The pan frame also has two lateral side sections, each with securing areas. The stiffening profile has an X-shaped stiffening channel (26) with four arms (26B) extending towards and connected to the securing areas.
