Support device (1) with a support surface (9) for support of an object being examined using computer tomography, where the underside of the support has an opening (7) in which a reference body (6) can be inserted. The reference body is inserted in a fixed position relative to the support surface. The support device is made using closed cell foam. The reference body is for use in bone tomography and must be positioned in a known position. It provides a reference for use in determining bone densities.
