A louvre type sun shade for the outside of a window, or for the outside of a transparent facade, has solar cells on the upper surface of each louvre, separated by reflecting areas. The underside of each louvre has reflecting areas and optional solar cells. The reflecting areas are angled to reflect light onto the solar cells of the opposite louvre surface, or to an opposite reflecting surface for reflecting back to solar cells. This enhances the light gathering efficiency for the solar cells. The reflecting surfaces are angled to optimise the light gathering at all angles of the louvres/incident sunlight.
