<p>An ink jet printer comprising, mounted on the same head carrier, a color head having a plurality of nozzles arranged thereon, each nozzle jetting colored ink particles by piezoelectric element driving, and a monochromatic head having a plurality of nozzles arranged thereon, each nozzle jetting monochromatic ink particles by piezoelectric element driving, wherein a control unit switches, for print-controlling, between a color printing mode using the color head and a monochromatic printing mode using the monochromatic head within one scanning action. The color printing mode is in a multilevel gradation mode, and the monochromatic mode in a high resolution mode in which a monochromatic head resolution is integral multiples of a color head resolution.</p> |
