<p>A holder for a graphite electrode is used in an electric discharge machime (EDM) device. In one embodiment, the holder includes a pair of jaws (21, 23) mounted on a support (25), the jaws being threadly engaged with a dual setscrew (35) having threaded portions (37, 39) of mutually opposite orientations. A positioning setscrew (57) anchors the dual setscrew (35), and prevents the dual setscrew from moving longitudinally. Rotation of the dual setscrew thus causes the jaws to move apart or together. A variety of sizes of electrodes can be accommodated between the jaws, and the electrodes remain on-center, because the jaws (21, 23) are maintained equally distant from the center of the support.</p> |
