An aqueous primer coating composition comprising an emulsion of an acid anhydride modified poly(olefin chloride)resin (A), an aqueous alkyd resin (B) and an aqueous novolac-epoxide resin (C), where the amounts of parts A, B, and C are (wt.%): 20-60, 10-60, and 10-60 respectively relative to the total resin solids content is new. An Independent claim is included for a coated body coated with the composition.
