A connecting rod (34) for a piston compressor including a generally vertical oriented rod section (78) having a piston end and a connecting end (82). A n on- through bore (30) formed in the connecting end (82) receives a pin (28) mounted eccentrically on a shaft (22), such that rotation of the shaft cause s the rod section to reciprocate. A bleed hole (82, 204) formed in an inside e nd of the bore allows air in the bore to escape during assembly. When a lubrica nt is disposed in the bore, the bleed hole (84) is shaped to inhibit an excess amount of lubricant from escaping therethrough. |
