A saw- head (4) moves along a machine-beam (6) positioned on the sawing-bench (14). The saw-head has a drive motor (8) which drives a saw-blade (12) by means of a cutter-shaft (10). The machine-beam swivels, on a swivel axis (26). The swivel axis is at right angles to the axis of the cutting shaft on a cutting plane and in the direction of the sawing-gap (17) and is positioned on a level with the sawing-bench's bench-top (16) near the sawing-gap.
