A folding chair (10), and/or a stackable/storable folding chair system (60) having: a frame (14) with a curved spline profile, and a seat (150) and legs (40, 42) which collapse into a volume defined by the frame, for increased stacking density and more stable stacking; a folding mechanism (100) which provides strength characteristics and folds upon itself to save space, and a safe stopper member (124, 128) for providing a limited opened position, and to resist pinching of user's extremities; a kick-out tab (144) for facilitating opening of the folding mechanism, and thus the chair; a flexible back support (156), and a lumbar support member (160) for comfort; a projecting alignment member (200) associated with the seat for stacking stability; and indexing feet (210, 214) with projections for stacking stability.
