Metal strip made of silver or silver-based alloy for epitaxially coating with a biaxially textured layer comprises a material having a biaxial texture additionally containing 10 nm - 10 microns of large dispersoids of carbides, borides, oxides and/or nitrides with a volume amount of 0.1-5%. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the metal strip, comprising: compacting a powder mixture made of silver or silver-based alloy containing 10 nm - 10 microns of large dispersoids of carbides, borides, oxides and/or nitrides with a volume amount of 0.1-5% into a sheet; tempering; deforming by cold rolling to strip; and then subjecting to recrystallization annealing.
