METHOD FOR SURFACE TREATMENT OF SILICEOUS PLATES AND RESULTING PRODUCTS

The invention concerns a method for surface treatment of siliceous materials for providing them with improved and lasting water-repellent and oil-repellent properties. The invention is characterised in that it consists in: priming the surface which consists in nano-texturing the whole surface by a mechanical abrasion process combined with alkaline activation by contacting with an alkaline solution; applying on the surface to be treated a grafting reagent or a mixture of reagents capable of forming siloxane bonds with the silanols of the surface of the nano-textured surface of the siliceous materials; applying on the surface a hot gas stream so as to promote the diffusion and the reactivity of the reagent(s). The invention is useful in particular for treating transparent glass surfaces such as motor vehicle windscreens.
