<p>A gene showing reduction or disappearance of expression in immortalized cells involving cancer cells is isolated and the DNA sequence thereof is determined. Further, a cell proliferation inhibitory protein is produced by expressing this gene and the gene and the protein are used as diagnostics or remedies to be used in gene diagnosis, gene therapy, etc. for diseases such as cancer.</p>
