The invention relates to a composition comprising an effective amount of an inhibitor of carbonate dehydrogenase and a pharmaceutical tolerable carrier for local administration in the eye, and to its utilization for increasing the speed of the flow of the retinal blood circulation. The inhibitor is selected amongst dorsolamide, acetazolamide, metazolamide, in particular dorsolamide, and is in quantities ranging from 0.01 to 5% and 0.5 - 2% solution in an ophthalmologically acceptable carrier. 11 claims
