<p>A semitrailer cargo door locking system (27) is described for use with a semitrailer cargo door (24) having as part of its opening mechanism a rotatable handle (29) which is secured within a hasp mechanism (33) comprising a rigid lower hasp (37) and a swivelable upper hasp (45). The locking system includes a shackleless keyed lock (59) having an internal bolt (64) for engaging aligned holes (54, 55) provided in the upper and lower hasps (37, 45), thereby preventing unauthorized opening of the cargo doors when in a locked state. The lock housing is provided both with a protective extension (85) to minimize attempts to pry the lock, and with a tapered side wall (89) to prevent removal by the application of a destructive torque applied by a wrench or other like device. The lock is further provided with an anchor line (76) for either permanently or removably securing the lock to the cargo door. To provide the lock with the ability to be used with regulated loads, a means may also be provided to attach a sealing structure (108) to the lock.</p> |
