NOVEL TRANSCRIPTION FACTOR AND DNA THEREOF

A polypeptide having an activity of binding specifically to the cis-element of ChM-I gene promoter and promoting the transcription of the ChM-I gene. Therefore, the polypeptide and its DNA are useful as preventives/remedies for diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis deformans, osteoporosis, bone fracture and cancer. Also, the above-described polypeptide and DNA or a transformant thereof are usable in screening, for example, a compound promoting or inhibiting the activity of the polypeptide. Compounds promoting the activity of the above polypeptide or the expression of the above DNA are useful as preventives/remedies for diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis deformans, osteoporosis, bone fracture and cancer. Compounds inhibiting the activity of the above polypeptide or the expression of the above DNA are useful as preventives/remedies for diseases such as intervertebral disk hernia, ischiodynia and etopic chondrogenesis.
