A method for constructing a male sterile plant by using a plant expression cassette containing nucleic acids which are DNAs encoding zinc finger transcriptional factors originating in petunia (ZPT2-5, ZPT3-1 and ZPT4-1) and a promoter ligated to these nucleic acids in such a manner as allowing the operation thereof. A method for constructing a transformed plant by using a plant expression cassette containing promoters originating in the ZPT3-1 and ZPT4-1 genes and a foreign gene ligated to these promoters in such a manner as allowing the operation thereof.
