A method for constructing a male sterile plant by using a plant expression cassette containing a nucleic acid which is a DNA encoding a zinc finger transcriptional factor originating in petunia (ZPT3-2) and a promoter ligate d to this nucleic acid in such a manner as allowing the operation thereof, or another plant expression cassette containing a promoter originating in the ZPT3-2 gene and foreign gene ligated to this promoter in such a manner as allowing the operation thereof.
