The clothing for a textile machine has a number of rows of needles or sawtooth stamped profiles with a free passage zone (A) between the spaced needles/sawteeth for the fibers to be combed, which steadily expands in the direction of the sliver movement. The basic shape of the free passage zone (A) is a trapezoid. The needles or the points (5) of the sawteeth are shaped in a triangular or trapezoid basic form in cross section. The corners are rounded at the triangles or trapezoids. The needles, in cross section, have a leading end face which is rounded in a relatively obtuse shape, with at least one side surface with a convex curvature and a relatively pointed rear end surface. The cross section surface resembles an aircraft wing profile, or the profile can be symmetrical or asymmetrical. One side surface has a convex curvature and the other side surface has an inwards concave curvature.
