The forming tool has tool inserts (5) forming one or more tool tiers. The tool inserts are connected to each other via guide pillars (7) and moved on the pillars to open/close the forming chambers they define. A tool carrier plate (17) between the inserts is located between an abutment plate (15) and a pressure plate (16) on either side of the tool, and is pref. driven separately. The guide pillars have apertures to hold the tube sections, which correspond with similar apertures in the tool inserts.
