The scraper for a conveyor belt (2) has two groups of scraper blades (18). These are arranged in V-shaped pairs which point in opposite directions in the two groups. They have guide rods (8, 9) which slope outwards away from each other. These are mounted on rods (10, 12) which are at right angles to the belt. One of the guides (8) is mounted at the point of the V and contacts the belt at an angle. The other (9) is mounted near the mid-point of the arms and is fitted with a spring so that it is resiliently in contact with the belt.
