<p>A conveyor system (102) that is particularly suited for clean room usage and which can operate on a pre-determined and readily adjustable drive roller (118) gear slippage basis (206, 207, 236, 238, 240) so as to readily accommodate different pallet load requirements. Adjustment is carried out by way of a simple adjustment in the slip (5) setting of the drive gears (206, 207). An adjustable load clutch (238, 240, 234) for varying the slip point of drive gears (206, 207) supported by drive roller (118) support assemblies which each have a drive roller support shaft (212) on which is mounted the drive roller (118), the drive roller gear (206, 207), a friction control device (238) and a compression adjustment device (240, 246), with the compression adjustment device being adjustable so as to alter a slip (5) setting of the friction control device. The compression adjustment device (240, 246) is a threaded nut (242) received on a threaded, free end of a drive roller (118) support shaft (212) and adjustable to vary the compression level between a gear sleeve (236) in contact with a fixed bearing portion receiving the driver roller shaft, (212) a friction control washer (241) in contact with the gear, a slip/wear ring (238) in contact with the friction control washer (241) that abut the compression nut (238).</p> |
