A method for treating a separator for use in laminated multi-layer electrochemical cell device structures. The devices comprise a positive (18) and a negative (18) electrode member of polymeric matrix composition, having the microporous polyolefin membrane separator member (16) interposed therebetween. The separator is treated to provide a polymer coating layer and a layer of plasticizer. The plasticizer subsequently volatilizes from the separator; yet its temporary presence enhances the bond between the electrodes and the separator. |
