The model has base objects defined by mathematical functions and with spatial relationships to all other base objects defining a three-dimensional model geometry. The model is stored on a computer-readable medium and can be transformed using one or more transformation operators. When an operator is operating on a base object its spatial relationship to at least one other base object is altered, causing a model geometry change. The mathematical model (20B) has base objects, each defined by a mathematical function and each with a spatial relationship to all other base objects. The objects and spatial relationships define a three-dimensional model geometry. The model is stored on a computer-readable medium, can be transformed using one or more operators, each associated with a defined transformation operation. When one of the operators is operating on one of the base objects the spatial relationship between the object and at least one other base object is altered, causing a variation in model geometry. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of simulating an imaging system and an arrangement for simulating an imaging system.
