The hinge unit has a hinge arm (3) which holds the hinge bolt (4) on the structure (1). The hinge arm is divided into a first part (5) fixed on the structure and a second part (6) which is secured against rotation but is longitudinally displaceable and engages round the hinge bolt (4) outside of the first arm part. The second arm part is connected to the worm drive through a fine thread (12). The worm drive (9) is mounted in the first arm part so that an end of a worm shaft (10) is exposed for detachable coupling with the external drive such as electric motor.
