The ultrasonic imaging device has an ultrasonic head (2) for recording ultrasonic images and a position sensor (1), for detecting the position of the ultrasonic head during recording of each ultrasonic image and supplying position data to an image processing device. The position sensor has a reception device for different guides and a detector (7) determining the position of the ultrasonic head relative to the guide, optically, magnetically or electrically.
