The invention relates to derivatives having the formula (I), where =a1=a2=a3=a4 is a bivalent radical of the formula =N-CH=CH-CH=(a) ; =CH-N=CH-CH =(b)=CH-CH=N-CH=(c)=CH-CH=CH-N =(d) wherein one or two hydrogen atoms from said bivalent radicals can be substituted by halogen, hydroxy C1-6 alkyl or C1-6 alkyloxy : R1 is hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl ; R2 is hydrogen or C1-6 ; R3 is hydrogen or C1-6 alkyl ; alk1 is C1-5 alcanediyl : alk2 is C2-15 alcanediyl, to processes for preparing said compounds and to an intermediate employed for preparing the derivatives of formula (I). The didydropyranopyridine derivatives having the formula (I) are used for the treatment of disorders characterized by excessive vasodilatation, especially headache, in the treatment of venous insufficiency and low blood pressure.
