A method for introducing steam into slurry which is to be thermally conditioned, consists of blowing steam into the slurry entry pipe to the autoclave, conducting the slurry in the pipe firstly upwards and then downwards, and blowing the steam through at least a part of the ascending slurry column upwards so that the steam bubbles escaping form a cushion at the flow-reversal point of the slurry between the upward-moving and downward-moving columns of slurry. The rising slurry passes through this cushion, so that the steam is continuously mixed with cooler slurry and is thus condensed. The advantage of the method is that the slurry is preheated when it enters the autoclave.
|
