Electronic system having variable functions

A modular communication and entertainment system is described enabling radio communication capabilities and entertainment capabilities through a base unit. The system includes at least one module which interfaces with a base unit which provides functionality to the base unit. The system is adaptable to permit development of the base unit and portable module independently of one another.
