The present invention relates to a method for assigning temporary identities to terminals connected to a communication network forming a geographic network service area with a number of location areas (fixed or dynamically customised), wherein the network service area is divided into a number of geographical part-areas, uniqueness areas, where each uniqueness area is controlled by a network node, mobile serving node MSN, responsible for a number of cells. A terminal registering in a uniqueness area is assigned a temporary identity, which is unique for that area, by the MSN responsible for that area, wherein the division into uniqueness areas is created independently and without relation to the location areas of the network. |
