PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge preventing the generation of air bubbles caused by ink and also preventing the adhesion of air bubbles to a device for directly detecting the consumption amount of ink even if air bubbles are generated and to prevent the erroneous detection of the amount of ink in the ink cartridge by preventing ink from remaining in a cavity after the ink in the ink cartridge is consumed or by reducing the remaining amount of ink in the cavity. SOLUTION: An ink cartrdige is mounted in an ink jet recording apparatus having a printing head ejecting ink drops to supply a liquid to the printing head. The ink cartridge is equipped with a liquid housing container, a liquid supply port, a piezoelectric device for detecting the consumed state of the liquid in the container and the porous member arranged in the vicinity of the piezoelectric device within the container. |
