PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rewritable compact disk having the rewritable area and the reproduction area on the medium surface, while keeping the compatibility with CD-RW, and the manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: This rewritable compact disks is constituted, in such a manner that the RAM are 105 and the ROM area 104 are provided on the same disk surface, and phase transition type recording layers are provided on both of the RAM area and ROM area, then a wobble groove is arranged on the RAM area to perform information recording by forming an amorphous mark with the irradiation of the recording light, and the information is recorded on the ROM area by a prepit train. When the measurement is made by using an optical pickup of 770-790 nm for wavelength and 0.49-0.51 for the value of objective lens openings, the ratio of push-pull signal values before and after the recording on the RAM area is 1.05<=|I1-|I2|/|I1-I2|a<=2.0, or the ratio of the push-pull signal value after the recording on the RAM area and the push-pull signal value on the ROM area is 0.78<=|I1-I2|/|I1-I2|ROM<=1.3. |
