PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control print position accurately even when the print speed depends on the amount of line feed. SOLUTION: Data set by a host computer is analyzed (step 1). If a decision is made that the amount of current line feed is high (step 2) at the time of heading a recording sheet accompanied with feeding, for example, a decision is made whether the amount of next line feed is high or not (step 3). If the amount of next line feed is high, current line feed is divided into quick line feed of 5 IPS (inch/sec) corresponding to the amount of line feed and line feed of 0.5 IPS as slow as next line feed. After line feed is effected at the low speed (steps 4, 5), print operation is executed (step 6).
