PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ICMP echo answering device which adds a function of answering an ICMP echo request to a repeating device having no function of answering the ICMP echo request and can easily find the installation place of the specific repeating device with a sound and/or pilot lamp. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a transmission and reception part which receives the ICMP echo request and sends an ICMP echo answer, a control part which processes the ICMP echo request, an AUI connector, a serial connector for IP address setting, and a speaker and/or display unit, and an and/or display is made so that a sound is outputted in response to the ICMP echo request.
