PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem where the period, when nothing is shown on a display screen is increased when a part of attribute in formation on the image data, will not be recorded on a medium. SOLUTION: A system control means 28 instructs a reading means 21 to store the TOC recorded on a medium 20 into a read memory 22 for a period, when a power supply detection means 26 detects the application of a power supply or a medium detection means 25 detects the insertion of the medium 20, and then an operation input means 27 generates an instruction for reproducing the audio data. Then the means 28 refers to the information on the image data on the TOC stored in the memory 22 and instructs an image display means 30 to read a piece of image data representing the medium 20 out of this medium, if available and to display it. When plural pieces of image data representing the medium 20 are available, the means 28 gives instruction to read these image data out of the medium 20 and to display them successively for every prescribed time.
