PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent the fluctuation of the sheet carrying speed. SOLUTION: This sheet carrying device is provided with a separating means 1 having a feeding member 1a arranged freely to be rotated and a separating member 1b arranged so as to be brought in contact with the feeding member 1a and for separating loaded sheets S one by one for feeding, an image processing means 2 arranged opposite to the fed sheet S and for processing the image between the sheet S, and a carrying means 4 having a carrying roll 3 arranged freely to be rotated and for carrying the sheet S fed from the separating means 1 to the image processing means 2. An opposite member 5 for covering the peripheral surface of a part of the axial directional area of the carrying roll 3 without a contact between the carrying roll 3 is fixed to the described part in the axial directional area of the carrying roll 3, and the viscous fluid 6 for increasing the friction resistance between the carrying roll 3 and the opposite member 5 is interposed between the carrying roll 3 and the opposite member 5.
