PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for properly deleting broadcast programs which are recorded in the program record holding period, that are set in each of program attribute information which are sorted according to the contents of the broadcast programs. SOLUTION: A program guide is prepared for guiding the contents of a broadcast program, and a program record holding period that is set according to the attribute of the broadcast program, i.e., one of elements of the program guide is selected or the program record holding period is set arbitrarily according to a broadcast program. Then the broadcast program is recorded on a recording/erasing medium and then deleted, when the program record holding period that is selected or set about the recorded program expires.
